February’s Stylist Spotlight is on Haylee Johnson, a stylist and Salon Leader at the Holiday Hair in Chillicothe, Ohio.
“Haylee has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in her role as a leader,” said Artina Bentley, Territory Leader in the Greater Cincinnati area. “She leads by example and coaches her team members on important technical skills. Her drive, commitment to excellence, and dedication is what makes her successful.”
Like many of our stylists, Haylee knew she wanted to do hair early on after visiting the Career Center on a field trip in high school. In fact, she was the go-to hair and makeup person amongst her group of friends for homecomings and proms.
“I always loved doing hair,” said Haylee. “I most enjoy the bond I develop with my clients. After doing their hair for 11 years, they truly are like family!”
Haylee feels the same way about the women she works with. They all treat each other like family; Haylee truly enjoys coming to work every single day. While she likes providing a variety of services for her clients, Haylee most appreciates color as each experience is different. She enjoys working with color theory and continuing to grow in her craft.
Her advice to team members or stylists just starting out is to NOT adhere to the “fake it ‘til you make it” mentality. “If you don’t know how to do something, don’t be too embarrassed to ask,” she said. “That is the only way you are going to grow and learn, and there are discreet ways to ask for help from your colleagues.”
When she’s not behind the chair, you can find Haylee spending time swimming, skating, and going to the water park with her three daughters.
