Holiday Hair stylist Amy King is Alline Salon Group’s November Stylist Spotlight, an honor her Territory Leader Chelsea Hunt says is extremely well-deserved!
“Amy comes into the salon every day with the intent of doing her very best. She is an example to her team and hits the 10-2-5 goals each month, always does right by her customers and was ranked #1 in the company, region and territory on the stylist leaderboard for September,” said Chelsea.
Being from a creative family, Amy always knew she wanted to do something in the fashion or beauty industry, and started working in retail as a buyer. She realized that she could make a better income as a hairstylist, and completed cosmetology school at the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. She began working at the JCPenney salon where she spent about 17 years working as a stylist and manager. After it closed up shop in 2022, Amy started working at her current salon in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
As a seasoned stylist, Amy has learned the importance of building trust with her customers, never over-selling and only making recommendations that are authentic and realistic. “It’s important to meet your customer where they are, and ensure they’re leaving the salon with a hairstyle they can manage and maintain,” she said.
Amy enjoys helping newer stylists whenever she can, teaching them techniques and reminding them to have confidence when on the floor. “It’s all about talking to and connecting with your customers.”
When she’s not busy at the salon, Amy enjoys fixing up and decorating the new home she just moved into, spending time with her family and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
